Eco Drive Watches

Citizen Eco-Drive watches use the simplest, yet most technically advanced power generating and storage system in the Watch Manufacturing Industry. A Solar conversion panel and a energy cell are the power provider for these Quartz Watches. Eco-Drive's ability to use light from any source to generate electrical power means that the supply is limitless and free. The absence of any added complex power generating machinery that would require additional upkeep is another big advantage.

Kinetic Watches Kinetic watches are timepieces that utilize the power from the human body to keep the watch running. There are no batteries. Kinetic watches have oscillating weights that are turned by constant movement from the wrist. The constant movement turns into a magnetic charge in the watch and then into electricity. The term kinetic energy comes from the Greek words kinesis and energia, which mean motion and energy.

Chronograph Watch A chronograph is a timepiece capable of measuring discrete elapsed time units as well as telling time in a 12-hour format. In such a watch, each of these two separate time-keeping functions operates independently. This means that one typically contains a mechanism for regular time-keeping as well as a separate movement for the stopwatch, or elapsed time, function. A chronograph should be distinguished from a chronometer, which is a timepiece that is officially certified for its high degree of accuracy

Perpetual Calendar A calendar mechanism in a watch that displays the date correctly 'perpetually', taking into account the different lengths of the months as well as leap year's day.

Radio Controlled Watches An atomic watch is a wristwatch that is radio controlled to keep the most accurate time on earth. You never need to set the time or date of an atomic watch because it receives a low-frequency radio signal nightly that keeps it in perfect synchronization. An atomic watch is handy because it automatically adjusts for Daylight Saving Time (DST), often mispronounced as Daylight Savings Time, leap years and even leap seconds. It contains an internal antenna and program that is set to search once a day for the radio signal When it finds the signal it decodes the time then sets itself.

Automatic watch Automatic watches do not need to be wound by turning a dial because they wind themselves when they are strapped to an arm that is swinging and twisting all day long.

The internal parts of automatic watches are designed to follow the pull of gravity. Therefore, they don't have gears that must be wound with a spring. Instead, their tiny weights get pulled by gravity as you move and swing your arm, so little by little these weights are twisting around both clockwise and counter-clockwise, until your watch is wound up. Watches like this are called automatic or self-winding types, as opposed to quartz, kinetic, or mechanical watches.

Hand Wound Watches Exactly what is says. These watches need to wound by hand every 2-3 days to keep them working. Of course if you don’t wear the watch for a while you just wind it up, set it to the right time and off it goes.

Clasp Types

Deployment Clasp Deployment clasps have a safety latch that retracts backwards from the top of the buckle. Underneath, a folding clasp lifts out in the opposite direction of the latch, making the bracelet or strap large enough to slip your hand through. The clasp can be opened with the push of a button or simply pulled and might help avoid tangling especially with knitwear.

Folding Clasp Folding clasp lifts out in the opposite direction of the latch, making the braclet or strap large enough to slip your hand through.

Jewellery Clasp A jewellery clasp lifts up, then slides through an opening on the other end of the bracelet.

Buckle Strap The buckle strap is found only on leather watches and functions in exactly the same way as a standard belt buckle

Hidden Clasp The hidden clasp opens by pulling up on the bracelet where the two ends meet, one side at a time, or it may have one or two small buttons on either side of the bracelet. In this case, depress the buttons and the clasp releases without applying upward pressure.
